HTML lists
HTML newsletter mailing lists send messages in Hyper Text Markup Language. This differs from a text newsletter because it allows list owners to send media-rich publications that can include graphics along with text.

Advertising on HTML lists
html messages can contain banners and logo graphics as well as text messages.

Text-based lists
All Chinwag discussion lists and the MarketingSherpa newsletter are text publications at Chinwag. A text-based list is simply a list that distributes mail as plain text rather than HTML files.

Advertising on text-based lists
Text-only lists cannot handle graphics such as logos or banners. Advertisements appear as brief text inserts which are clearly marked off from the body text of the email message or newsletter.

Ad creative specs

We will also require any URL or email address you wish to add to your message. This URL should be kept as short as possible. URL's longer than 60 characters in length may become invalid when published.

Digest and Individual messages
Digest and individual modes refer to different forms of subscription for discussion mailing lists only.

» Digest Mode
Digest subscribers receive an occasional email (usually daily) which contains the text of all the recent emails exchanged through the list. Adverts appear at the top of the Digest emails.

» Individual Mode
Individual subscribers receive every email sent through the mailing list as is it distributed. Adverts appear in the footer of Individual messages.

Banner Adverts
A strictly limited banner advert inventory is available, mainly due to the fact that the main traffic for chinwag.com is via email! Banners are the IAB standard 468x60 pixels and should be less than 12Kb in size. See the top of the page for an example of placement. Generally banner space is included with the list sponsorship. Limited reporting is available for this. Rich media, Flash and other forms of banner can normally be accommodated, too.
